Harmonization Results of Bulgarian Land Evaluation System with FAO Recommendations
Z. Mitreva, B. Georgiev, V. Krasteva, V. Kolchakov
Abstract: Adopted in Bulgaria methodology for “categorization of agricultural land” is created for the
merged conditions, centrally managed agriculture and hides a lot of so-called “errors of scale”.
However, it is so entered in the administrative sphere that cannot suddenly be automatically rejected or entirely replaced. On the other hand, socio-economic conditions require a new balance between agricultural policy, science and production. This is a complex, difficult to implement and time consuming process. Often require significant investments for new studies. Not to be completely comprehensive, the team of authors set out the results of some of his studies in the direction of gradual adaptation of existing “categorization of agricultural land” to internationally recognized standards (mostly recommended by FAO). The more timely start such a process, the less disappointments await us in the future.
