New Аpproaches to the Relative Assessment (Land Evaluation) of Some Basic Soil Characteristics
D. Sapundzhiev
Abstract: Based on FAO recommended Limitation approaches, scales have been developed to evaluate two soil characteristics - Soil texture and Organic matter content (humus). In the evaluation of these characteristics, auxiliary ones are used for the precision: Soil texture (physical clay %) + Natural humidity balance (mm) and organic matter content (humus %) + depth of the humus horizon (cm). When compiling the rating scales through the Limitation approach for each feature, 5 levels of constraints (LIND 0; LIND 1; LIND 2; LIND 3; LIND 4) are taken into account, where “IND” is the individual three-character index of the characteristic. The results are commented and the main conclusions are made.
