Microbiological activity of Haplic Chernozems and Kastanozems
Jonita Perfanova, Kostadinka Nedyalkova, Milena Kercheva, Emil Dimitrov, Katerina Doneva
Abstract: The aim of the study was to evaluate the microbiological soil parameters of the topsoil layer of cultivated and non-cultivated Haplic Chernozems and Kastanozems. The amount of the main groups of soil microorganisms and the enzyme activity (β-glucosidase and phosphatase) of the soils were determined. The amount of heterotrophic microorganisms, bacteria utilizing mineral nitrogen and microscopic fungi, as well as the enzyme activity of the soils were higher in the non-cultivated areas. The numbers of cellulose decomposing microorganisms in Kastanozems were higher compared to Haplic Chernozems from which it can be assumed that the cellulose decomposition was more intensive in this soil
